About a year ago I find out that I have Celiac Disease as some of you already know and about a year after that I discovered that I also had hypoglycemia. I had gained weight, was depressed, felt sick, tired, bloated, and a large about of other symptoms that I won’t mention but there’s about 20 more unmentionable nasty things that were going on with my body and my mind. The combination of all those things just about broke my spirit and I felt like I was hitting rock bottom.
I’ve been to my doctor and many others for blood tests, ect about every 6 months and to my dismay I learned that when you have hypoglycemia that there’s a very good chance that you can become diabetic about 10 years later. To prevent that from happening its recommended that I work out 5-6 times a week, maintain a healthy weight, eat a LOW GI diet every 3 hours, and have a healthy balanced diet. Its a LOT more difficult that it sounds in that neat little sentence. I have members of my family that have diabetes and I see what they struggle with and I decided that wasn’t going to be me. I can be pretty fucking stubborn when I put my mind to something and dealing with my health has been one of the greatest challenges so far.
I hit the gym really hard in December and January, lost 10 lbs…then disaster struck again. Somehow I wasn’t paying enough attention and gluten was in my system again. its like an attack and its so painful. Its like the worst hangover of your life, the stomach flu, migraine, and arthritis all at once and my attacks last anywhere from 4 days to 2 weeks before the painful symptoms go away. After they do subside, I have severe fatigue that’s in itself hard to deal with. All I can to is rest, wait, and try to still work and keep moving.
In the meantime that I was unable to get to the gym I felt I needed an option that I can do at home without having to leave the house or give myself excuses like “I don’t have time” or whatever else I try to come up with. No more excuses. I WILL NOT get diabetes because if I do it will only be my own fault. I have enough to beat myself up about so I’m not adding that to my plate of Midwestern guilt(Midwesterners know what I’m talking about, lol)
Through gifts from my awesome fans and buying up workout gear I’ve acquired a treadmill, arm/leg weights, yoga, pole dance, Xbox Kinnect games, and other workout DVD’s and programs to make sure that I stick with being actively working out and not get bored. Boredom has always been a big deal for me. I get bored with a workout and then I’m not motivated. Its like workout ADHD.
I’ve always started a program for when I’m not at the gym, I can still get my ass kicked with these daily workouts with Bodyrock.tv which I found through www.youtube.com/user/ZuzkaLight Zuzka is an amazing person and former adult model too
If I get bored with one I’m going to switch to the other but there are tons of workouts to do and I’m doing it. I saw some weird comments about how they are sexualizing the workouts and I was like whatever! I WANT to be jealous of my trainer’s body and its very motivating to see abs like that. It pushes me to work harder on losing this weight I gained while I have been ill even more!
I did my fit test today as recommended bu the website and I’ll be posting my results of the future fit tests. Its great to not only see the results but track it with pics and how many reps I can do. More motivation
The fit test is to see where I am fitness wise and gives me numbers to smash through. each set of reps was in 50 seconds. How many can you do?
1. Squat Jumps – 25
2.Push-ups- 5 (real ones, not the ones where you push off from your knees)
3.Burpees – 10
4. Hugh Knees – 72 (woohoo!)
5. Switch Lunges – 15
6. Tuck Jumps -10
7. Tricep Dips-15 (flexes at that, ouch!)
8. Straight Abs-10
Some things I was like, “Oh come one you can do better that that!” and others I was proud of myself. I”m just proud to have finished it since I was panting and sweating, lol. Tomorrow is weights and since the workouts aren’t very long, I definitely have time. I was spending about 2-3 hours at the gym so this program along with yoga before bed should really fit into my workaholic schedule. I’ll be posting my progress and pics so check back to see how I’m doing!
